We were hoping to celebrate St George's Day here at Furleigh Estate with two quintessential English favourites: Bacchus and Asparagus.
Anita and Chip de Greeff, owners of Bothen Hill, grow their award winning asparagus just over the hedge from Furleigh's Bacchus vines here in Dorset. In 2019 they won the BOOM - Best Organic Market Awards for their asparagus. We just knew we had to get the the two together at what is the most beautiful time of year in Dorset.
Our plan was that on arrival you would be greated with a glass of Furleigh Estate fizz while Anita and Chip introduced us to the world of Dorset asparagus and provide us with delicious new season spru to taste.
Rebecca Mitchell, DipWSET would then have guided us through the development of what has become England's iconic grape variety. Her talk was to be served with a selection of asparagus base canapes prepared by The Hungry Mule.
Such a wonderful evening was planned and now, of course, it cannot happen....or can it?
We believe that Bacchus and Asparagus is too good a match to miss. So, for a limited time only, we have put together a package containing a bottle of Furleigh Estate Bacchus Dry, two 250g bundles of Bothen Hill Asparagus, a Bacchus tasting card and (if they get back from the printers in time) an Asparagus recipe card containing a canape recipe from The Hungry Mule. We hope you can recreate a little corner of Dorset in your home this spring.
