An intrepid team of Furleigh Estate staff donned their fancy dress and took to the water recently. They were taking part in the RNLI West Bay wacky raft race. This crazy event takes place every year and atracted an amazing 30 entries this year. Local business construct their own raft and then race up and down the River Brit finishing in West Bay harbour. The seriousness with which entrants take the race varies; most concentrate on soaking the opposition and trying to avoid sinking.
Furleigh Estate have entered the race four times now but 2019 was by far our best race yet. This is thought to be because significant assistance was given by our Marketing department this year. The Production department dispute this however. What is not disputed however is that the Furleigh raft did not capsize, it finished the race and the team managed to soak most of the other contestants!
