Throughout December, every Friday & Saturday at 11am & 2.30pm we are running FREE and informal Christmas wine and food matching workshops. There'll be plenty of inspiration and ideas for your festive menus. No booking required, just pop in and join in the fun.
Steeped in history, no-one knows for sure how old Mummers’ plays are, but they are undoubtedly one of the oldest surviving features of a traditional English Christmas. The play is loosely based on the St George and the Dragon story and is intended to show the struggle between good and evil. The Symondsbury version of the play is one of the fullest surviving versions in the country. There are many characters including St George. Father Christmas, a Doctor and Dame Dorothy. There will be much sword fighting, a death and then a miraculous cure. All you need, in fact, to get your Christmas festivities off to a great start.
This is a fundraising event for Weldmar Hospice. The ticket price of £10 includes a glass of mulled wine and a mince pie. Tickets can be booked here.
If there is the possibility that you may just over indulge during the festive season then the perfect antidote is a march round a vineyard between Christmas and New Year. After the popularity of our Betwixtmas Tours last year we are again running Grand Tours at 11am on Friday 29th and Saturday 30th December. These start with a glass of fizz on arrival, then a tour of the vineyard and winery followed by festive canapes and a tasting of our finest sparkling wine.
The cost is £25 per person.
