Symondsbury Mummers fundraising event for Weldmar Hospice - 14th December 2017

The Mummers are coming to Furleigh
Thursday, 14th December at 7.30pm

Steeped in history, no-one knows for sure how old Mummers’ plays are, but they are undoubtedly one of the oldest surviving features of a traditional English Christmas. The play is loosely based on the St George and the Dragon story and is intended to show the struggle between good and evil. The Symondsbury version of the play is one of the fullest surviving versions in the country. There are many characters including St George. Father Christmas, a Doctor and Dame Dorothy. There will be much sword fighting, a death and then a miraculous cure. All you need, in fact, to get your Christmas festivities off to a great start.

This is a funraising event for Weldmar Hospice. The ticket price of £10 includes a glass of mulled wine and a mince pie.
