If you’re looking for a special event for your staff outing, local club, hen party, birthday party, Christmas party or just a get together with a group of friends, this is the tour for you. We provide private group wine tours and tastings throughout the year, offering a unique behind-the-scenes view of our vineyard and winery. These can be on any day of the week (except Sunday). Just call us and see if your preferred date is available.
Our tours are designed to be friendly, informative and lots of fun! No prior knowledge is required as our experienced staff will lead you through the ups and downs of the English wine-making process. You’ll visit some of our vines (weather permitting) before heading inside the winery to see the presses, the fermentation tanks, sparkling wine dosage line and the labelling area. At the end of the tour you’ll be offered three of our wines to taste.
The tour ends in our fabulous Cellar Shop, where you can buy your new-found favourite (we sell by the bottle and case). The tour will last for approximately 90 minutes.
The Cost: A private tour costs £187.50. This is a fixed rate for up to 15 guests (so whether there is 1 person or 15 people on the tour, the cost of the tour is the same). Additional guests (after the first 15) are charged at £12.50 per person.
Number of guests: The maximum number of guests we can accommodate on a tour is 25. If you have more people in your party, please contact us to discuss special arrangements (e.g. we may split the group and do two staggered tours or bring in a second tour guide).
Booking terms: Pre-booking is essential. We require a 50% deposit to secure your booking. The balance of payment is due two weeks before your tour.
Cancellations: If you have to cancel your tour once the 50% deposit has been paid, the money is only refundable through merchandise bought in our Cellar Shop.
If you have to cancel your tour once the final balance has been paid, we are unable to provide a refund. ‘No shows’ on the day are not entitled to a refund, and we are unable to provide a discount or refund for tour participants who choose not to taste the wine!
How to pay: We accept credit/debit cards over the telephone (anything except American Express) or in person at the Cellar Shop. We also accept cheques and cash.
When to book: It is advisable to book as far in advance as possible. Our tour calendar fills very quickly and if you leave it until the last minute your preferred date will probably already be taken.
How to book: Contact us by phone (01308 488991) or email (email@example.com) and let us know when you want to come and how many are in your party. We will get in touch as soon as possible to advise on the availability of your tour date. Please note: your tour will not be considered as confirmed until the 50% deposit has been paid.
Tour dates and times: We can offer a great deal of flexibility for a private tour, including weekdays or evenings. The length of the tour can also be adapted to your needs (for example, if you need a shorter tour of ~ 1 hour). We are closed on Sundays.
Food options: We do not have a café/restaurant on site, but we can recommend several excellent local hostelries if you’d like to head off for a meal after your tour.
What if it’s raining? Our tours can be adapted to the weather! The majority of the tour is inside the winery so the weather doesn’t affect it. However, if it’s lashing with rain this will probably prohibit a visit to see the vines.
What should I wear? You don’t need any special clothing, just sensible shoes and enough clothes to keep you warm. Our winery is kept at a cool temperature so short sleeves are ok for a summer daytime visit but in the evenings and in winter you’ll need to wrap up warm.
Car-parking: We have a very large, free car-park at the front of the Cellar Shop (can easily accommodate coaches, up to 35 seater).
Disabled facilities: Unfortunately our tour is unsuitable for wheelchairs. However, it is possible to do some tasting in the Cellar Shop.
Children: Unfortunately our tours are unsuitable for anyone under the age of 18 and for health & safety reasons we cannot allow children of any age to accompany the tour.
